07:51 am - Boring post. Sorry.
I've been spending more time at work than I have not at work lately. It's good and bad I suppose. By the end of the month I will have run a convention and raffle, which is a lot of work. Not to mention the whole trying to get folks elected into office by November.

Tomorrow I'm driving to Ninilchik, AK for their state fair. Fun, fun. Every year I go and work at a union booth for several hours. The drive takes about 4.5 hours, and I'm looking forward to getting an Egg McMuffin and mocha and rocking out on the beautiful drive.

As far as my near finger-losing incident, it's gotten much better. I'll either have a nice scar, or nice dent in my ring finger.

ETA: Haha, the spelling doesn't like Ninilchik. It prefers that I use "nonallergic."

11:37 am - I'm so booooooooooooooooooooored!
Darn kids these days!

ORANGE BEACH, Alabama (AP) -- Police who chased a car for miles along a highway at speeds up to 100 mph said the driver was drunk, hardly a rarity in this resort town. But there was more: When they looked inside the flipped vehicle with guns drawn, they found an 11-year-old girl at the wheel.

"You go up there thinking it's a felon you're dealing with," assistant police Chief Greg Duck said.

The girl, who was slightly injured in the crash, is now charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, reckless endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident. Duck said she sideswiped another vehicle during the roughly 8-mile chase.

The chase began around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when a patrol officer near the Florida line saw the car speeding west along a beach highway, Duck said. When the officer flicked on his lights, the driver sped up. The girl rolled the car just inside the Gulf Shores city limit.

Duck said the girl, whose name was not released because of her age, told police she was on her way to pick up her sister at a concert.

Investigators found no alcohol in the car but believe the girl drank before getting behind the wheel of the car, which belongs to relatives.

Duck declined to release the girl's blood alcohol level but said a blood test at the hospital showed it was higher than .02, the legal limit for minors.

Eagle lugging deer head causes Juneau power outage

The Associated Press

Published: January 29, 2007

JUNEAU - About 10,000 Juneau residents briefly lost power Sunday after a bald eagle lugging a deer head crashed into transmission lines.

"You have to live in Alaska to have this kind of outage scenario," said Gayle Wood, an Alaska Electric Light & Power spokeswoman. "This is the story of the overly ambitious eagle who evidently found a deer head in the landfill."

The hefty bounty apparently bogged down the eagle, which failed to clear transmission lines as it flew away from the landfill, she said. When a repair crew arrived, they found the eagle carcass with the deer head nearby.

This eagle "got a hold of a little bit more than he could handle," Wood said.

Power was out less than 45 minutes.

I knew there was a reason why 2 year olds shouldn't play with guns! Because they shoot people.

PORT ROYAL, Ky. -- A 4-year-old girl is in critical condition in Kosair Children’s Hospital after she was shot in the mouth Wednesday night by a 2-year-old, WLKY NewsChannel 32 reported.

Funniest comment ever in my inbox this morning:

Starchaser looks at the picture akfelecia has chosen to represents her. . . . reads her comment . . . looks at that stupid disgusting picture . . .wonders if akfelecia has any idea that she is clueless. Wonders if akfelecia thinks she has anything to say worth listening to? Shakes her head and walks away . . .

and then this gem:

Looks again at the picture . . realizes that poor akfelecia hasn't the sense to know how ridiculous that picture makes her . . .wakes away hoping she grows up and wishing for an ignore button . . .

Whenever I'm really bored I read someone's LJ who I don't know. He's not on my f-list but in some communities I frequent. This kid's life is a total fucking disaster. Well, not really, but he thinks it is. Part of me wants to respond to tell him to quit being such a drama queen baby, but I know that if I do that, he will probably start locking up his journal. Then my entertainment would be gone. :(

..."I appeared to I fraternity brothers to tell them be strong," said Marley, standing in front of hundreds of hooting fraternity members. "I say don't let dean of students, Henry Riegert, fool ya, or even try to school ya. We'll get that bonfire going in time for da mixer, mon. A fire a man's own business."
